Garage Door Track Repair
A bent or misaligned track can make a door bind, jump, or come off the rails entirely. We straighten and realign tracks so your door travels smoothly and safely. Emergency service available across Mohave County, Greater Phoenix, and Southern Nevada.
What Garage Door Track Repair Is
The track is the metal channel, made of a vertical and a horizontal section on each side, that guides the rollers and holds the door in position as it opens and closes. When a track gets bent, knocked out of square, or loosens at its brackets, the rollers can not travel in a straight line. The door binds, jumps, scrapes, or in the worst case derails and hangs from the cables. Track repair finds what threw the door off its path and restores the track so the door moves freely and safely again.
This service is for homeowners whose door has started scraping, binding, or jerking during travel, looks crooked or uneven when closed, or has actually come off the track. It is also the right call after a vehicle bumped the door, after a spring or cable failure, or when an inspection turns up a track that is no longer square.
Signs Your Track Needs Repair
- The door scrapes, grinds, or rubs as it moves up or down
- The door binds, sticks, or jerks partway through its travel
- The door looks crooked or uneven when it is closed
- A visible gap between a roller and the track, or a bent track section
- The door has come off the track or jumped the rails
- A vehicle bumped the door, or a spring or cable recently failed
A damaged track is not just a noise issue. It can let the door bind or fall. Stop using the door and call for an inspection.
How a Door Leaves Its Track
A door does not usually jump its track for no reason. Most off-track problems trace back to one of three root causes. Here is how we diagnose and correct each one.
- 01
Bent or Damaged Track
An impact, a heavy door forced while off-balance, or age can put a bend in the vertical or horizontal track. Even a small bend makes the rollers bind and can throw the door off the rails.
- Caused by vehicle impact, spring failure, or forced operation
- Creates friction and uneven travel the opener has to fight
- Minor bends can often be corrected in place
- Severely damaged sections are replaced
- 02
Track Misalignment
The vertical and horizontal tracks must line up at the radius and sit square to the opening. When brackets loosen or the door shifts, the track moves out of position and the rollers can not follow a straight path.
- The track is no longer square to the door opening
- Rollers drag or pop out at the curve where tracks meet
- Often follows loose brackets or settling hardware
- Fixed by squaring and re-securing the track
- 03
Loose or Worn Hardware
Brackets, lag bolts, and fasteners hold the track in position. When they loosen or wear, the track shifts under load and the door travels unevenly. Hardware is inspected and re-secured as part of the repair.
- Loose brackets let the track move during every cycle
- Worn fasteners no longer hold the track firmly
- Can follow years of vibration and use
- Tightened or replaced to hold the track stable
These problems are often connected. A bent track wears rollers faster, and loose hardware lets the track shift over time. We inspect the whole assembly rather than fixing only the obvious damage.
Our Track Repair Process
From a full track inspection to a tested, smoothly traveling door, here is what to expect on a typical track repair.
- 01
Inspect the Track
We check the vertical and horizontal tracks for bends, gaps, and misalignment and inspect the brackets and hardware.
- 02
Repair and Realign
Bent sections are repaired or replaced and the track is squared and aligned so the door travels smoothly.
- 03
Test the Travel
We run the door through full cycles to confirm it stays on the track and moves without binding.
Why Professional Track Repair Matters
A track that is even slightly off forces every part of the door to work harder. A correct repair protects the rollers, the opener, and your safety.
Square, Aligned Travel
A track squared to the opening lets the rollers follow a straight path, so the door stops scraping and binding.
Safer Door Operation
A stable track keeps the door on its rails and reduces the chance of it derailing or dropping under load.
Less Strain on the Opener
When the door is not fighting a bent track, the opener runs smoother and under less load on every cycle.
